This two-day training will review New York State (NYS) requirements for the delivery of HIV testing services and provide participants with the information needed to deliver HIV testing services.  The course meets the requirement for training in testing procedures established by the HIV Primary Care Medicaid Provider Agreement.  At the end of the training, participants will be able to: offer HIV Pre- and Post-Test Counseling, identify the required elements of HIV Pre- and Post-Test Counseling sessions, elicit informed consent from clients, describe the legal requirements of HIV reporting in NYS, and conduct a thorough Domestic Violence Screening as warranted by NYS law. This course will not provide an overview of HIV/AIDS transmission; it is highly recommended that participants first attend PPNYC’s “HIV/AIDS 101” training on Wednesday, May 28, 2008.
