The Activist Council is a group that was launched in 2005 for people who want to get more involved in Planned Parenthood's advocacy work. The group meets once a month to get more in-depth information about current issues and to work together on advocacy projects and events.
The Activist Council currently contains 6 sub-committees: Political Action, Sex Ed Advocacy, Fundraising, Field Outreach, Young Activist Boot Camp Trainers, and Clinic Escorts.
The four training sessions are at Planned Parenthood of New York City on October 29th, November 5th, 12th, and 19th. (All are Thursdays from 6-8pm.) New members must attend each training.
The trainings are designed to bring new members up to speed on current reproductive health and rights issues, learn important messaging skills, and meet the other pro-choice New Yorkers, and begin to talk about projects and actions. Each session will cover a different topic and no previous knowledge is required. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about Planned Parenthood and what they will be doing as members of the Activist Council.
See you there!
