With women representing a large proportion of immigrants to the United States, it is imperative for immigrant-serving organizations to understand the sexual and reproductive health ideas and practices of immigrant women in the context of their socio-cultural backgrounds. This forum will explore the existing literature on the sexual and reproductive health needs of Spanish-speaking Caribbean women, and introduce findings from PPNYC’s qualitative research with Dominican women living in Santo Domingo and in New York City. The speakers will lead a discussion regarding the reproductive lives of study participants across national borders. The forum will conclude with an overview of how to translate this research into practical recommendations for service providers and community-based organizations serving Dominican women.
