Technology is increasingly having a big impact on the culture and sexuality of today’s youth. Now more than ever, youth have access to a wealth of unfiltered information over the Internet. In addition, participating in social networks and texting have become young people’s preferred means of communicating and sharing information among their peers. This training will explore youth trends in utilizing technology, with a particular focus on New York City youth. The training will also cover what service providers can do to help youth access accurate sexual health information and make informed decisions concerning their use of technology. At the end of the training, participants will be able to: identify current trends among youth in using the Internet and hand held - devices, devise ways to use technology to reach youth with health promotion messages, and develop strategies to help youth make informed decisions concerning their use of the Internet and hand - held devices.
