The two candidates running for the seat have vastly different records on women’s health care. Ken Blackwell, the current Secretary of State, supports an abortion ban even more extreme than the one passed in South Dakota and has gone so far as to liken abortion to genocide. Anti-choice groups have already begun running television ads attacking his opponent, Congressman Ted Strickland, for being a champion for reproductive rights. Strickland has pledged his continued support for quality women’s health care and common-sense unintended pregnancy prevention programs.
