This weekend, 103 teens, college
students, parents, and educators from across Ohio
convened in Columbus because they all care about one thing:
comprehensive sex education. The Ohio Youth
Summit, sponsored by Planned Parenthood
Affiliates of Ohio, was the largest of its kind here in
Ohio and succeeded in bringing together a diverse group
committed to the same issue. Our purpose was to inform and
inspire and we did just that!
Here's what the participants had to say:
"Great educational opportunity!"
"Thank you for bringing the youth & parents
together!"
"I think these meetings are so important and
just keep doing what you're doing. Change will come!"
The Youth Summit attendees now know what to do in their
communities and schools to help bring an end to abstinence-only
programs and start giving our youth the information and tools
they need to make smart and safe decisions.
Our work, however, can only continue with your support.

Youth Summit attendees participated in various comprehensive
sex education lessons (seen above) that helped everyone
understand what is included in an age-appropriate, comprehensive
sex education curriculum.
Your help is needed to bring real sex education into our
children's classrooms. Please click here to donate to the effort.
Additional Youth Summit sessions included:
- A briefing by PPAO Legislative Director Gary
Dougherty on The Act for Our Children's
Future - current legislation in the Ohio General
Assembly that would put an end to abstinence-only programs
in our schools.
- Breakout sessions to teach Comprehensive Sex Ed advocacy
techniques in communities, on campus, and online.
- A panel discussion (seen below) on how Abstinence-Only
programming is medically inaccurate and ignores the educational
needs of the LGBT community, sexually active teens, and victims
of assault.

Your support is greatly needed to continue this work.

Sincerely,
Katherine Scott State Field Director Planned Parenthood
