Greetings,

GENAustin’s Girls Now! Conference is a one-day event to explore the issues of body image, bullying, and being a girl. The event features interactive workshops focused on issues such as cyber-bullying, self-image, dating, diversity, media literacy, parent-daughter relationships, and physical health and wellness. Click here for a YouTube video about the conference.

Planned Parenthood will have a table at the conference between 8 am and 5 pm with information about our services, and we need volunteers to run the table. If you would like to take part in this exciting event, please let me know by Thursday, November 12th.

Thanks so much for your support of Planned Parenthood.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD AT GIRLS NOW!

Join knowledgeable presenters from Planned Parenthood for these empowering and informative workshops at the Girls Now! Conference.

Befriend your Bod: Help! Is this my body?!

Surviving the teen years is tough. One day you love your body; the next day you hate your body. From looking in the mirror to trying to be you it’s hard to know how to love yourself and your body. During this fun and interactive session learn how to love yourself and your body!

Befriend your Bod: Keeping clean and healthy

Because it’s not enough to know what happens during puberty, this session is intended to teach girls how to keep an adult body healthy, clean, and free of infection with fun hands-on activities.

TALK FIRST! Part 1: Get your talk on

Most preteens and teens reveal that they would rather talk about sensitive issues like sex with their parents. This session will focus on increasing parent comfort levels around sexuality topics and how to start having healthy and meaningful conversations about sexuality with their children.

TALK FIRST! Part II: Ages & stages

Because children whose parents are open and honest with them about sexuality are more likely to postpone having sex and make healthier decisions about sex, parent-child communication is vital. This session will focus on what kids need to know and when they need to know it.
