100% Pro-Choice Presidential Candidates

As the 2008 presidential campaign heats up, one thing is clear: America can elect a pro-choice president and send a message that women's reproductive health is a top priority that will be protected.

Planned Parenthood and the issue of women's health have generated a great deal of interest in the Democratic primary.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund has not yet endorsed any candidate for president.

Planned Parenthood has worked with Senator Clinton and Senator Obama in advancing and protecting women's rights and women's health. Both senators are pro-choice champions and have a 100 percent pro-choice voting record from Planned Parenthood.

Senator Clinton has been a strong and vocal supporter of protecting women's rights and women's health. Most recently, Senator Clinton partnered with Planned Parenthood to denounce President Bush's appointment of the anti-choice and anti-contraception chief of the nation's family planning programs.

Senator Obama has been a strong and vocal supporter of protecting women's rights and women's health. Most recently, Senator Obama partnered with Planned Parenthood to sponsor the Prevention Through Affordable Access Act, legislation to fix the affordable birth control crisis issue.

There has been some news about some of Senator Obama's votes in the Illinois Legislature. Here are the facts. While Senator Obama was in the Illinois Legislature, he worked with Planned Parenthood to develop a legislative strategy to protect a woman's right to choose and keep anti-choice bills from being used for political gain. The strategy involved having pro-choice members vote "present," instead of caving to political pressure and voting for these bad bills. The strategy was successful, and many of these bad bills were defeated.

In November, we will have the opportunity to elect a pro-choice president who will protect women's reproductive health. That is why the Planned Parenthood Action Fund has launched the One Million Strong Campaign to turn out one million pro-family planning, pro-choice supporters to the polls. We can make a difference in this election, and by turning out one million supporters, we will elect a pro-choice and pro-health care president.
