"Every day, Planned Parenthood affiliates deliver health care to women across the country. As a result of our experience, no one knows better than we do that we need to change the balance of power in Congress to protect health care access for women and families," said Stephenie Foster, vice president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. As the political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Action Fund works in communities, in the states, and in Washington, DC, to educate voters about candidates who are committed to supporting reproductive health care. The Action Fund is non-partisan and endorsements are based on objective criteria based on whether the candidate has been or will be a leader on pro-choice issues.
"For too long, extremist groups that oppose birth control and reproductive freedom have put hardliners in office by pouring money into elections," added Foster. "Mainstream voters want legislators who are in touch with the concerns of real people. Planned Parenthood Federal PAC contributions will help pro-choice candidates reach voters with the important message that they will champion common-sense, prevention-first agendas that put women's health above politics."
In addition to making contributions through its PAC, the Action Fund is mobilizing activists and supporters in local communities throughout the country to educate voters about candidates. As part of a coalition of progressive groups in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin, Planned Parenthood supporters are engaged in public education campaigns and grassroots organizing to educate voters and ensure a safer environment for reproductive health care in this country.
