Washington, DC - On Wednesday, November 1, Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards will join Planned Parenthood Action Fund staff and activists for a get-out-the-vote effort to turn out pro-choice women voters in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
"The outcome of this election is pivotal for women's health. On November 7, Americans will have the opportunity to change the national agenda to one that protects their health, their rights and their families," said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. "Americans of all political views rely on Planned Parenthood to help keep them healthy and safe. And that's why we are working hard to make sure voters understand what's at stake in this election."
In South Dakota, the Action Fund is supporting the efforts of a local Planned Parenthood organization and the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families to reject South Dakota's total abortion ban.
Planned Parenthood joins a coalition of progressive organizations working in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin to inform voters about which candidates will protect women's health and rights. In Ohio, nearly 300 volunteers are going door to door to talk with voters about why local races are the key to preventing abortion bans like the one in South Dakota.
"After six years of battling extreme anti-choice politicians, momentum is building in favor of a commonsense approach to women's health care," added Richards. "The nation is shifting toward a pro-choice, pro-prevention framework, and Planned Parenthood's efforts across the country have been key to getting out the message about differences between the pro-choice candidates and the anti-choice candidates."
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund and the Planned Parenthood Federal PAC are nonpartisan, and their endorsements are based on a candidate's support for and record on reproductive health care.
