I am joining with Planned Parenthood, and thousands of people all across Wisconsin, to stand together to protect women's health.
I believe that a woman's personal medical decisions should be made by her, in ways consistent with her own values and in consultation with her doctor and family. And I am deeply offended by politicians acting to take these intensely private decisions out of women's hands.
In the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's reckless decision with no protection for women's health, I pledge to do all I can to ensure that politicians in the Wisconsin Legislature and in Congress affirmatively legislate the importance of women's health.

With a 5-4 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court turned its back on more than 30 years of decisions that protected women's health by upholding the federal abortion ban -- a ban that tells women that politicians, not doctors, will make their health care decisions for them.
Statement from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin President and CEO Jim Stewart:
"Wednesday's decision unravels more than 30 years of Supreme Court rulings that held that women's health must be protected from dangerous laws that restrict abortion. This ruling tells women that politicians, not doctors, will make their health care decisions for them.
While the Bush administration has been appointing justices to the Supreme Court who threaten women's health, Planned Parenthood has been focused on our top priorities: the health and safety of our patients. We will work to ensure women are provided with the best and safest possible care under this law."
