NC Civic Engagement
Internship
Position: Intern
Dates: April - October 2012
Hours: 10+ hours/week
A stipend is
offered with this internship.
Duties:
- Register voters and collect voter pledge cards as part
of large scale voter registration
and engagement project
- Coordinate and staff voter registration tables at
community events
- Recruit and train volunteers for grassroots advocacy
events
- Schedule volunteers, including reminder calls and
confirmation emails
- Ensure compliance with North Carolina laws related to voter
registration
- Complete data entry and management
- Establish regular communication with PPHS staff
regarding voter registration efforts
- Assist and occasionally manage/run volunteer events
- Contribute content to new media outlets such as
Facebook, Twitter and blog
- Provide assistance with other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Support Planned Parenthood’s mission
- A strong and proven commitment to progressive values
and civic engagement, especially within traditionally underrepresented
communities and youth
- Have excellent communication and writing skills
- Have reliable access to a computer with internet
- Available and willing to work some weekday evenings and
weekends
- Outgoing, self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Complete a positive background check and provide at
least 3 references
- Must have a valid driver’s license and preferably own a
car
- Voter registration experience and knowledge of North Carolina
politics a plus

hired. Internship locations will be Asheville, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Wilmington.
